Two guests in each, and one child over three stays free; ask us and we will add a pillow and a blanket. Rate depends on the season; ask for your dates.

The three differ in character, not in comfort. On the booking platforms a bungalow with this kit, air conditioning, a 200 cm bed, a walk-in shower and a private balcony, is usually filed as superior or deluxe; we do not grade ours, because all three have the same. Whichever one is free for your dates, this is already in it.

There are only three. From December to February they are usually taken three to four weeks ahead, and New Year goes well before that.

Experience the island, feel at home
There is something different about staying in a real island village rather than a hotel resort. You live in the everyday rhythm of Lonely Beach, with its cafés, kitchens and small shops around you, and come back to a clean, comfortable bungalow that is yours for the stay.
Morning coffee from your own kettle, a few hours at a proper desk, an evening on the balcony with the banana trees in front of you. A fridge, a microwave and a toaster cover the small things; there is no reception and no room service, your hostess is next door, speaks English and is glad to help with anything practical, and the rest of the time the place is yours.
The sand is a 10–15 minute walk, so the sea does not depend on a motorbike. Rent one and the rest of Koh Chang opens up: quieter beaches, the other side of the coast, the pier for the smaller islands. If you would rather have your own door, a quiet night and the island outside it, you will be at home here.

Internet on Lonely Beach varies from one place to the next. We deliberately took one of the more expensive fibre plans rather than the cheapest line that would do, and it is the first thing long-stay guests write to us about.

- 4G/5G coverage at Lonely Beach is good. A tourist SIM with a large data package costs a few hundred baht and makes a reliable hotspot if the line ever drops.

- Standard Thai mains, 220 V, sockets that take both flat and round pins. As anywhere on the island, a storm can bring a short cut; a laptop battery covers it.

A full-width worktop with a proper mesh office chair, not a stool and a bedside table. You can sit at it for eight hours.
An extension lead, so the cable reaches
There is no socket at the desk by the window, but there is an extension lead in every room, so you run the cable across and work where you want to. Sockets in the room have USB ports.
Quiet enough for calls
Soundproofing, a quiet split air conditioner and a position set back from the bar street. Guests take calls from the desk and from the balcony.

Both the mini-market next door and the Bamboo Hut restaurant across the lane belong to the same hostess, the one who meets you at check-in, and who is usually behind the minimart counter. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are ordered from her: Thai and European, coffee, tea, fresh juice. Say the evening before what time suits you, and she brings it over to your balcony.
It is cooked with care and served properly, and guests write about her as warmly as about the food. It is paid for separately and is not part of the room rate.

Who we are
Modern bungalows for rent on Lonely Beach, Koh Chang
Three modern bungalows a few steps off the Lonely Beach road, finished in 2023. Many of you already know the quality of these bungalows, and since 2024 we have been welcoming you back under a new name: Modern Bungalows.
There is no reception desk here. There is a hostess. She meets every guest and hands over the keys, brings an extra beach towel the moment you ask, points you at whatever you need on the lane, and keeps an eye on the place. Guests mention her in review after review, often before they mention the rooms.
The idea has not changed since: three bungalows, your own space, and a lane that still feels like a village.

Lonely Beach
A neighbourhood guide to the stretch of Koh Chang we live on: what is where, how far it is, and what is worth your evening.
Step off our lane and you are in the middle of it. Sleepy Owl does the breakfast and the coffee that gets a morning started, and it is close enough that you can go in flip-flops. Magic Garden is one of the most popular restaurants on the beach. When the evening moves inland, Himmel and the little bars around Soi 1 keep it going as late as you want. We are four hundred metres from that, set back off the road: no crowd, no talking outside your door, though on a loud night the bass does carry this far, and guests say it did not stop them sleeping.
Everything practical is a minute or two on foot: Seven Day, a few metres along the lane, for cold water and beer at midnight, Buddy Drugstore for anything the pharmacy at home would sell you, Baan Thai Massage for the hour after a long swim, laundry and scooter rental on the same short stretch.
The sand is a 10–15 minute walk north; the best swimming is at the top end, past Nature Beach and Siam Beach, where the bottom drops away quickly and the water stays clear. And the sunsets are right there: the whole beach faces west, the restaurants sit on the sand, and you can watch the sun go into the sea over a proper dinner without going anywhere else.

If you want the authentic Thai village atmosphere
Right across the lane, Bamboo Hut keeps the older Koh Chang alive: simple thatched-roof bungalows, fresh breeze and palm shade.
It is worth a look even if you are not staying there: it is the Koh Chang that most of the coast has already built over. It belongs to the same hostess as the minimart where you are met on arrival, and it is one of the two kitchens the breakfasts come from. Getting to the island
Getting to Koh Chang
Bus, minivan, ferry and taxi from Bangkok, Pattaya or Trat airport can be booked as one through-ticket. We do not run a pick-up ourselves, but taxis wait at every ferry arrival, roughly 150–200 THB per person to Lonely Beach.

We take monthly bookings all year. We do not have a fixed monthly rate: the price depends on the length of stay and on where the dates fall in the season.
The discount is largest in low season, May to October, and smaller from November to April, but a month is taken as a month in either. Separate terms apply from three months. Tell us your dates and duration and we will quote you terms that are not listed on the booking platforms.
Check-in is from 14:00 to 21:00 at the Seven Day minimart, a few metres away on the same lane. The owner will be expecting you: she hands over the keys and shows you to your bungalow. Check-out is 07:00 to 12:00. Let us know your arrival time in advance.
Yes. Guests have measured over 200 Mbps, and several have worked full weeks and months from the bungalows. Each one has a proper desk, a chair and outlets with USB ports.
The sandy part of Lonely Beach is a 10–15 minute walk, depending on your pace. Restaurants, shops, an ATM, a pharmacy, laundry and massage are all within about 300 metres, and the bar street is 3–4 minutes away.
The bungalows sit back from the bar street, so noise stays in the background. Guests describe hearing 'a tiny bit of bass' on some evenings, low enough not to bother them. The rooms are soundproofed and the air conditioners are quiet.
Breakfast is not included in the rate. It is ordered from the hostess next door, the minimart and the Bamboo Hut restaurant across the lane are both hers, and she brings it over to you. Lunch and dinner work the same way. Say the evening before what time suits you.
Children older than 3 are welcome. Cots and extra beds are not available, and each bungalow takes two adults plus one child.
