Lonely Beach · Koh Chang · Thailand

The bungalows

Three bungalows, built in 2023, set in a garden of young palms and banana plants a few steps off the main Lonely Beach road.

Each bungalow is a self-contained little house rather than a room: a king-size bed, a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower, a corner with a fridge and a microwave, a workspace and a large private balcony. Floor-to-ceiling tinted windows with blackout curtains and mosquito nets keep the room cool, dark and insect-free.

They sit back from the bar street, so evening noise stays in the background. Guests regularly describe them as “built to European standards” and “more of a tiny house than a bungalow”.

Below, each of the three in turn — what it looks like, what is in it, and what makes it the one to ask for.

Measured internet speed

Fibre line

Latency

The fibre line the property pays for. Real speed varies with how busy the network is, and this is an island — outages and faults happen. The connection is the provider's, and we cannot be responsible for it. Guests have worked full weeks and months from the bungalows.

Choose your bungalow

Three bungalows. Not three copies.

Twenty-two square metres indoors each, plus a private balcony, and the same working kit in every one. After that they part ways — one is concrete and closest to the shop, one is tiled through and takes the daylight, and one sits at the end of the path where the monkeys come.

Modern Bungalow 1 — large white floor tile, a desk with an office chair, a floor fan and full-height balcony doors onto the banana trees

01The one Airbnb guests keep picking

Modern Bungalow 1

The concrete one

The most honest of the three. Polished concrete in the shower, large white tile underfoot, and a concrete balcony that holds its cool long after the sun has gone off it. Inside, a desk with an office chair; outside, a lounger, a table and chairs. The minimart is close enough to walk to barefoot when the fridge runs out of cold water. There is no side window in this one: the light comes off the balcony doors alone, which makes it the darkest and the coolest room of the three when the afternoon is at its worst. Of the three, this is the one Airbnb guests choose most — and the one they come back to.

  • Polished concrete bathroom
  • Concrete balcony · lounger, table and chairs
  • The closest bungalow to the minimart
  • No side window — the darkest, coolest of the three
  • Desk with an office chair

Modern Bungalow 2 — desk with an ergonomic office chair, wall television and full-height doors onto the balcony with a table and chairs

02Best for a working week

Modern Bungalow 2

The tiled one

Take this one if you arrived with a laptop and a deadline. There is a proper desk and a proper chair at the window, and tilework you actually notice — the same careful job through the room, the shower and out onto the balcony. A window beside the desk means daylight on the keyboard as well as through the balcony doors. When the working day closes, a round table for two and a lounger are waiting under the banana leaves.

  • Grey tiled shower — warm and domestic
  • Desk with a proper office chair
  • The same good tile in the room, shower and balcony
  • Daylight from a side window as well as the doors
  • Lounger and a round table for two

Modern Bungalow 3 — the balcony seen from the bed: bench, chair, table and jungle

03Furthest from the road

Modern Bungalow 3

The quiet one

The furthest from the road, and you hear the difference the moment the door shuts. It also has the biggest window of the three, right over the table, so the room is green from the moment you open your eyes. Wood instead of steel in here: a wooden desk, a wooden table and chairs at that window, and a bench on the balcony you end up sitting sideways on with your feet up. The macaques know this balcony — they come through the trees in the morning, and watching them from behind the glass with a coffee is the best thing about the room.

  • Beige tiled shower
  • Wooden desk, wooden table and chairs
  • Balcony with a bench, a chair and a table
  • The biggest window of the three
  • Furthest from the road — monkeys visit

Inside every bungalow

Feel yourself more comfortable

The bungalows were completed in November 2023 with high-quality interior finishes and materials, soundproofing and ventilation.

  • King-size bed, 200 cm

Large, genuinely comfortable beds with good pillows and blackout curtains — guests mention the sleep quality more than anything else.

    Super comfy bed!
    Hampus A.
  • 300 Mb/s fibre Wi-Fi

A 300 Mb/s fibre line — the single thing remote workers mention first. Enough for calls, uploads and a full working week.

Finally, great Wi-Fi on the island!
    Nicolas M.
  • Split A/C you sleep through

Modern, quiet split units plus a floor fan. They do not rattle you awake at three in the morning.

Modern aircon and a very quiet fan made my stay comfortable during the night.
    Anna
  • Private bathroom, walk-in shower

Bright, spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower, hot water and new fixtures — polished concrete in one bungalow, tiled in the other two.

Everything was fresh, clean, and there were no bugs at all.

A beautiful little terrace, perfect for relaxing in the evenings.
    Ronja
  • Desk and an ergonomic chair

A proper desk and chair, spot lighting and outlets with USB ports. Several guests have worked full weeks from here.

Loved the workspace with fast WiFi.

Prices

What a night costs

The rate moves with the tourist season. Here are the three numbers that matter rather than one flattering figure.

  • ฿400/ night · ~$12

    Low season, monthly booking

May to October, booked by the month. The quietest, greenest and cheapest time to be here.

  • ฿1,500/ night · ~$45

    Average in season

What a night costs on average through the tourist season, November to April.

  • New Year

    Peak period

Christmas and New Year are the most expensive weeks and the first to go. Book them months, not weeks, ahead.

Ask for your dates

Rates depend on where your dates fall in the season and how long you stay. Send us the dates and we will quote the exact price — there is no calendar to guess from.

Prices & seasons

Rates move with the season, the length of stay and how far ahead you book. The published range across booking platforms is roughly ฿600–฿2,500 a night (about $18–$75). Write to us directly for an exact quote.

  • November – April

    High season

Sunny, calm sea, the island fully awake. November is still quiet and easy to book; the rush is December to February, when three to four weeks ahead is the minimum — and Christmas and New Year go two to three months before that.

  • May – October

    Low season

Up to 30% off, quiet beaches, empty roads and almost no need to book ahead. This is also when we accept monthly stays.

  • One month and longer

    Long stays

We have no fixed monthly rate — tell us your dates and duration and we will give you a proper discount on the nightly price. This runs through the low season; for a month in high season, ask and we will see what is free. Separate terms apply from three months.
